Attention Parents of 21st CCLC Students in After-School Programs: |

| For the past several years, the school district, through the assistance of the State Department of Education and ongoing federal grants, has been able to provide free-of-charge, after-school programs at Smith Elementary, Gauthier Elementary, and St. Bernard Middle Schools. Our current operational grant ends on April 30, 2011, and funding to pay staff for those programs will no longer be available. Therefore, |

| We will NOT continue to offer an after-school program at Smith Elementary, Gauthier Elementary, or St. Bernard Middle Schools beginning April 30th or this school year or at any time next school year. |

| The summer program information will be updated towards the end of the school year. |

| We are notifying you well in advance so that if you have child care needs, you will be able to make plans within the coming months for an alternate after-school program for your child. Please note that this also means no summer programs will be available. Our last day of operation will be Thursday, April 26. |

| It was our hope that additional funding would become available from the state for another three-year cycle. However, we have been advised that it is not their intent to offer an additional round of grants at this time. |

| Thank you for your cooperation with our 21st CCLC programs. Our intent in securing the initial grant was to provide quality after-school programs for students as their parents worked to rebuild their homes and their lives. We regret that we are unable to continue to provide this service to our families. |
