8:00 AM - 3:00 PM Teachers' Professional Development Days
Congratulations on making it through another successful school year! I hope this summer is wonderful for you and your family and that you make the time to rejuvenate and to rest. Here at SBM, we call that Habit 7: Sharpening the Saw. By taking time for yourself and your family, you can continue to grow your child’s potential for academic success. One way your child can grow academically over the summer is to read. This is important in increasing your child’s intellectual growth.
Information regarding your child’s summer reading assignment has been mailed. If you have any questions regarding this, or if you’d like to come to school to check out a book, feel free to stop by or call us. Our summer hours are 9-3, and our phone number is 504.267.7878.
Please mark your calendar now for our Back to School Night to be held on Thursday, August 3. This event is a great opportunity to meet our faculty and allow students to become prepared for next year. More information on the details of this event will be mailed home in July.
Once again, enjoy your summer, and I can’t wait to see you all on August 3rd. Yay! Summer!
Congratulations to Lona Cook for being named as St. Bernard Middle School's Support Personnel of the Year. Mrs. Cook has been with the St. Bernard School System for the past 10 years. She began her career as a bus driver, then worked with students with significant disabilities, moved to the Office of Student Services, and is currrently serving as SBM's school secretary. We are fortunate to have Mrs. Cook helping to keep SBM running like a well oiled machine.
Congratulations to Courtney Haynie for being named SBM's Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Haynie teaches 7th and 8th grade math. She serves as the PBIS Team leader, is on the leadership team at SBM, and also conducts a mentoring program called the Student Support Squad. Congratulations, Mrs. Haynie!
